The song "Frosty the Snowman" was first recorded by cowboy singer Gene Autry in 1950 and hit No. 7 on the US Pop Singles chart that year. A 2007 version made No. 1 on the US Hot Adult Contemporary chart.
The world's largest snowman was built in 2008 in Bethel, Maine. She was actually a snow-woman and stood 122 feet, 1 inch high.
Jack Frost is a winter gnome with roots in Viking lore. In America, he is often interchangeable with Old Man Winter and is thought to bring the onset of winter and cold weather.
On December 31, 1907, the very first ball was dropped in Times Square. It used 100 25-watt bulbs and weighed 700 pounds.
